tarted-up Good Luck at the Shooting Range

Still another billboard showed a scene at a masquerade party. A sad-looking, frowning young man was by himself in the foreground, dressed as a clown. His mask was up, and his face showed his humiliation. Behind his back, a girl dressed as a peasant was laughing at him, and a character attired in the red tights of Mephisto was holding a pitchfork toward our hero, and gloating and sneering. A foursome near the punch bowl, one wearing a horse's head as a mask, were also staring and laughing at him. The pretty girl was saying to Mephisto, "Maybe it's something he did not eat." Elsewhere, in neat paragraphs, the prose elucidated the theme: "It's nothing to clown about. Maybe that dull, logy feeling comes from a diet lacking in pep. Why not try America's super breakfast food?" The panacea for every form of melancholia and social failure, this matchless cereal is represented by a vivid box that ascends at the edge of the poster, while under it is a little poem which expresses incontestable insight: "LIFE IS SWELL - WHEN YOU KEEP WELL."
