What Johnson neglects to mention is that Biblical Creationism is Darwinism's perfect foil: an ancient absurdity that most Free Thinkers, "Trekkies" and Unitarians naturally reject in favor of Victorian science. Questions worth considering include: Darwinism's genealogy (the attempt to apply Malthusian economics to biology), Science as Fetish - or Public Idol - rather than methodology (compare with the modern [mis]use of the term "terrorism"), Darwinism as Psychological Warfare (if the Ruling Class can convince the "lower orders" that they're animals, perhaps they won't complain so.much when they're treated as such), Darwinism as the motor mechanism behind "scientific racism" (the appeal of neo-eugenicists [the Pioneer Fund crowd] to evolutionary theory), Darwinism as Cultural Imperialism (the catchphrase of the old British Empire was "God is an Englishman." And who better to topple him than another Englishman?) & Darwinism as an expression of 19th c. Anglo-American philosophy (i.e., Logical Positivism).

So... 36 had my roomie RJ as a special guest. He did his usual high-pitched vocalizing but this time it was through some kind of pedal or other. Sam (36) was playing a tin can with a contact mic through many pedals. It was ok. Cock ESP were pretty tame by their own high standards but still plenty fun. Elyse is back in the line-up and that's excellent news for their live performances. Ovo were very cool, wacky outfits,female grindcore-style vocals mixed with Yoko-ish bleats, primitive drumming and scratchy guitar and violin. The chick even played her dreadlocks with a mic'ed up violin bow! They're on tour now, so look for them in your neck of the woods. Cock ESP are also starting a tour today with RJ coming along as merch/video/occasional guest member guy. See them if you know what's good for you and pick up the new DVD-R while you're at it. Then some crappy local "new wave" band played so I left. BTW, FUCK the Corrall Room and it's new management. They suck.That is all.

watched the grammy red carpet and got a pizza from farfalle, which was delicious. grammys were so boring, but i'm kind of fascinated by kathy griffin's red carpet (INSERT JOKE ABOUT KATHY'S RED CARPET HERE) interviews. every single person she talked to, from steven tyler to modest mouse, was just utterly confused by her questions. i mean, they were literally just not answering her. to be honest, i've always ignored her because she seemed unfunny and hag-ish, and i even thought she was andy dick in drag for a while, but her new female neil hamburger style is kinda funny. does she mean for it to come off this way? so confused, but laughing still.

Anyone read the Brian Wilson interview in the January issue of Q Magazine? It's hilarious. One of those Q&A's where the subject is asked questions sent in from readers. The star is sort of on the spot...in Brian's case, that means no buffers. Some of the responses had me bellylaughing out loud at the newsstand.
